Welcome to the world of LEAPP
Welcome to the world of LEAPP
“There is an urgent need to take the LEAPP approach of exploring and applying the learning for progressive performance thereby honing our survival skills in the competitive world.”
The essential 21st century skills identified as 4Cs that everyone must have to survive in the ever growing competitive world are Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking and Creativity.
Communication: Having excellent communication skills is a part of every successful person’s life. Communicative competence refers to the ability to communicate well and applies both to the capability to formulate messages and to understand them. Two central aspects are that the communicative behaviour is effective, i.e. that it achieves the individual’s goal, and that it is appropriate, i.e. that it follows social standards and expectations. Whether an individual, a professional, a student or a teacher, one must know the correct ways of communicating thoughts for correct perception.
Critical Thinking: Critical thinking is the analysis of available facts, evidence, observations, and arguments to form a judgment. A critical thinker engages both the intellectual abilities and personal traits necessary for critical thinking. It requires a lot of attention and brain function. When a critical thinking approach is applied to education and training, it helps the learner’s brain function, perform and achieve better in respective fields.
Creativity: Creativity is our ability to form something new out of what’s presented. It is needed in situations where one needs to push out of linear way of thinking. It encourages us to look at other perspectives and even open up to the idea of new solutions. This can translate to a new solution that wasn’t there.
Just think: Can we develop such skills if we get everything readymade in the platter, or is it necessary to explore our skills in our respective life spheres?
The answer is that if we are well fed with ready knowledge/ content to acquire and perform then dependency on the monotonous process of getting everything ready in the platter takes the front stage, and skills required to survive in the competitive world are never explored. Such a dependency makes it difficult for us to face the challenges of various competitions that we face in life where we need to apply the 4Cs for emerging as a winner in the competitions. Development of the 4Cs within self not only helps us to achieve success in education by increasing our learning power but also leads to a great professional life. The 4Cs are developed by constant practice and hence, once they are developed, they become a habit.
Therefore, before we lose the inbuilt skills of 4Cs there is an urgent need to take the LEAPP approach of exploring and applying the learning for progressive performance thereby honing our survival skills of 4Cs in the competitive world.
